What is it used for?
Roxythromycin is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, especially infections of the throat, sinuses, airways, lungs, skin and soft tissues. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from making the proteins they need to grow and multiply.

How to take/use it
Take it only as prescribed and complete the full course, even if symptoms improve. Swallow the tablet with water; follow the product label or prescriber's instructions about timing in relation to food. Do not share antibiotics or use leftover medicine.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, headache and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Tell the prescriber about any allergy to roxithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics, liver disease, heart rhythm problems, or myasthenia gravis. Tell them about all medicines being taken because roxithromycin can interact with some medicines. Seek medical help for severe or persistent diarrhoea, breathing difficulty, facial swelling, severe rash or an irregular heartbeat.
