Selvar 400 Tabs (10X10) Sevelamer Carbonate 400Mg by Elder

What is it used for?
Sevelamer carbonate is used to lower high phosphate levels in the blood in people with chronic kidney disease, including those receiving dialysis.

How does it work?
It binds phosphate from food inside the gut and prevents it from being absorbed into the blood. The bound phosphate is then passed out in the stools.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, with meals. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew it. The dose may be adjusted according to blood phosphate levels. Tell the doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines, as some may need to be taken at a different time.

Common side effects
Constipation, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion and bloating.

Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is severe or persistent constipation, difficulty swallowing, a bowel blockage, or other serious stomach or bowel problems. Seek medical attention for severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting or inability to pass stools or gas. Regular blood tests and the prescribed kidney-disease diet should be followed.
