What is it used for?
Silodosin is used in adult men to treat urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate, such as difficulty starting urination, weak urine flow, frequent urination, and the need to urinate at night.

How does it work?
It blocks certain alpha-1A receptors in the prostate and bladder outlet. This relaxes these muscles and helps urine flow more easily.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, preferably with a meal. Swallow the capsule whole with water. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Reduced or absent semen during ejaculation, dizziness, low blood pressure on standing, headache, diarrhoea, and blocked or runny nose.

Precautions
Use only under medical advice, especially if there is kidney or liver disease or a history of low blood pressure. Rise slowly from sitting or lying down if dizziness occurs. Tell the doctor before cataract or glaucoma surgery, as this medicine may affect the iris during surgery. Inform the doctor about all medicines being used, particularly blood-pressure medicines, medicines for erectile dysfunction, other alpha-blockers, and strong CYP3A4-inhibiting medicines. Seek medical help for fainting or a prolonged painful erection.
