What is it used for?
Silodosin is used in adult men to relieve urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia), such as difficulty starting urination, weak urine flow, frequent urination and an urgent need to urinate.

How does it work?
It relaxes the muscles in the prostate and the outlet of the bladder. This helps urine flow more easily and reduces urinary symptoms.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, preferably with a meal. Swallow the capsule whole; do not crush or chew it. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Reduced or absent semen during ejaculation, dizziness, low blood pressure on standing, stuffy or runny nose, diarrhoea and headache.

Precautions
It may cause dizziness or fainting, especially when standing up; rise slowly and be careful when driving. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, low blood pressure, or medicines for blood pressure or erectile dysfunction. Inform the eye surgeon before cataract surgery, as silodosin may affect the iris during the operation. Seek medical help for severe dizziness, fainting or an allergic reaction.
