What is it used for?
Used in adult men to treat symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH), such as difficulty starting urination, weak urine flow, frequent urination and incomplete bladder emptying. It may also help reduce the risk of worsening urinary symptoms and urinary retention.

How does it work?
Silodosin relaxes the muscles around the prostate and bladder outlet to improve urine flow. Dutasteride reduces the hormone that contributes to prostate enlargement, which can gradually shrink the prostate.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and follow the instructions on the pack. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice. Swallow the medicine as directed; do not crush or open it unless advised by a healthcare professional.

Common side effects
Dizziness, especially on standing; reduced or absent semen during ejaculation; decreased sex drive; erectile difficulties; headache; and breast tenderness or enlargement. Some people may experience low blood pressure or fainting.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision. Rise slowly from sitting or lying down, particularly when starting treatment. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, low blood pressure, or planned cataract surgery. Dutasteride can affect PSA blood-test results, so inform the doctor that it is being taken. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle leaking or broken capsules. Do not donate blood during treatment and for 6 months after the last dose unless advised otherwise.
