What is it used for?
This combination is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes.

How does it work?
Sitagliptin helps the body release insulin after meals. Dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove excess sugar through urine, while metformin reduces sugar production by the liver and improves the body's response to insulin.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, preferably with food. Swallow the extended-release tablet whole; do not crush, split or chew it. Maintain adequate fluid intake unless a doctor has advised otherwise.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, increased urination, genital fungal infections and urinary tract infections. Low blood sugar may occur, especially when used with insulin or sulfonylureas.

Precautions
Inform the doctor about kidney or liver disease, dehydration, recurrent urinary or genital infections, pancreatitis, or heavy alcohol use. Seek urgent medical help for severe or persistent abdominal pain, vomiting, unusual weakness, breathing difficulty, confusion, or signs of severe dehydration. Kidney function should be monitored. Tell the doctor before surgery, prolonged fasting, or during a serious illness.
