Description:
Sitasure 100 contains Sitagliptin, a selective Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
By inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, Sitagliptin increases the levels of active incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP), which:
Stimulate insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner.
Suppress glucagon release, thereby reducing hepatic glucose output.
This dual action leads to improved glycemic control, targeting both fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels. Sitagliptin is weight-neutral and has a low risk of hypoglycemia, making it suitable for long-term diabetes management.
Warnings & Precautions:
Monitor renal function before initiation and periodically during therapy.
Rare cases of acute pancreatitis have been reported; discontinue if persistent, severe abdominal pain occurs.
Hypoglycemia may occur when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas — consider lowering their dose.
May rarely cause severe arthralgia or hypersensitivity reactions (angioedema, anaphylaxis).
Not a substitute for insulin therapy in insulin-dependent diabetes.
Adverse Effects:
Common: Nasopharyngitis, headache, upper respiratory infection
Less common: Dizziness, abdominal pain, mild hypoglycemia (with insulin or sulfonylureas)
Rare: Pancreatitis, hypersensitivity reactions, arthralgia, hepatic enzyme elevation
Storage:
Store below 25°C, protected from light, heat, and moisture.
Keep out of reach of children.
