Description:

Sitasure 50 contains Sitagliptin, a potent Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
It works by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which results in increased levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). These hormones enhance glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and suppress glucagon release from alpha cells, leading to better control of both fasting and postprandial blood glucose.
Sitagliptin provides effective glycemic control with a low risk of hypoglycemia and is weight-neutral.

Warnings & Precautions:

Monitor blood glucose and renal function periodically.

Rare cases of acute pancreatitis have been reported — discontinue if persistent severe abdominal pain occurs.

May cause hypoglycemia when combined with sulfonylureas or insulin — dosage adjustment may be necessary.

Not a substitute for insulin in insulin-dependent diabetes.

Discontinue temporarily in conditions that may affect renal function (e.g., dehydration, severe infection).

Adverse Effects:

Common: Headache, nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory infection

Less common: Dizziness, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, mild hypoglycemia

Rare: Pancreatitis, hypersensitivity reactions (rash, angioedema), arthralgia, hepatic enzyme elevation
