What is it used for?
Used to help control blood glucose levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when prescribed by a doctor.
How does it work?
Sitagliptin enhances incretin activity to support glucose-dependent insulin release. Glimepiride stimulates insulin release from the pancreas. Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity.
How to take/use it
Take orally exactly as prescribed, usually with meals as directed by your doctor. Do not change the dose yourself.
Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, and low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia).
Precautions
Monitor blood glucose regularly. The risk of low blood sugar may increase with glimepiride, particularly if meals are skipped. Inform your doctor about kidney or liver problems and all other medicines you take. Seek medical advice for persistent vomiting, severe weakness, or symptoms of low blood sugar.
