Description:

Sitasure M50 is a fixed-dose oral antidiabetic combination containing Sitagliptin, a Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, and Metformin Hydrochloride, a biguanide.
This combination provides complementary mechanisms to control blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM):

Sitagliptin increases levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP), enhancing insulin secretion and suppressing glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner.

Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production, enhances peripheral glucose uptake, and improves insulin sensitivity.

Together, they provide effective glycemic control with a low risk of hypoglycemia and help maintain long-term metabolic stability.

Dosage & Administration:

Usual adult dose: One tablet twice daily, with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

Individualize dosage based on patient’s current therapy, metabolic response, and tolerability.

Do not exceed 100 mg of sitagliptin and 2000 mg of metformin per day.

Swallow tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew.

Warnings & Precautions:

Monitor renal function before and during treatment.

Risk of lactic acidosis with metformin—discontinue if acidosis is suspected.

Avoid alcohol intake during therapy.

Sitagliptin may rarely cause pancreatitis—discontinue if severe abdominal pain occurs.

Adjust dose or discontinue during acute illness, dehydration, or radiologic contrast studies.

Not recommended for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
