What is it used for?
Cinnarizine is used to prevent and relieve vertigo (a spinning or balance sensation), dizziness, nausea and vomiting related to inner-ear problems. It can also help prevent motion sickness.

How does it work?
It reduces the activity of the balance centre in the inner ear and blocks certain signals that can cause dizziness, nausea and vomiting.

How to take/use it
Take it by mouth with water, exactly as directed by a doctor or pharmacist. It may be taken with food if it causes stomach discomfort. Do not drive or operate machinery until its effect is known.

Common side effects
Drowsiness, dry mouth, stomach discomfort, indigestion and weight gain may occur.

Precautions
Avoid alcohol because it may increase drowsiness. Use cautiously in older adults, as confusion or movement-related side effects may occur. People with Parkinson’s disease should use it only on medical advice. Seek medical advice if dizziness is severe, new or persistent.
