What is it used for?
Telmisartan 20 mg is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Controlling blood pressure helps reduce the risk of serious problems such as stroke and heart disease.

How does it work?
It blocks the action of angiotensin II, a substance that narrows blood vessels. This helps the blood vessels relax and lowers blood pressure.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day. It may be taken with or without food. Do not stop treatment without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the prescriber's instructions and do not take a double dose.

Common side effects
Dizziness, headache, back pain, diarrhoea, and tiredness may occur. Dizziness may be more noticeable when standing up.

Precautions
Do not use during pregnancy; inform the doctor immediately if pregnancy occurs. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, dehydration, or high potassium levels. Avoid potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised by a doctor. Seek medical help for severe dizziness, fainting, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing.
