What is it used for?
Used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It helps lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of complications when taken regularly as prescribed.

How does it work?
Telmisartan relaxes blood vessels by blocking the action of a hormone that causes them to narrow. Hydrochlorothiazide helps the kidneys remove excess salt and water through urine, which also lowers blood pressure.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day. It may be taken with or without food. Do not stop it or change the dose without medical advice. Take care to drink enough fluids unless fluid restriction has been advised.

Common side effects
Dizziness, headache, increased urination, tiredness, nausea, and diarrhoea may occur. Dizziness may be more noticeable when standing up.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney or liver disease, dehydration, diabetes, gout, or any electrolyte problem. Avoid use during pregnancy; contact a doctor immediately if pregnancy occurs. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and blood salts may be needed. Rise slowly if feeling dizzy, and seek medical help for severe weakness, fainting, swelling, or difficulty breathing.
