What is it used for?
This medicine is used to lower high blood pressure (hypertension) when treatment with one or more blood-pressure medicines is not sufficient.

How does it work?
Telmisartan relaxes blood vessels by blocking the action of a hormone that raises blood pressure. Amlodipine relaxes blood vessels, while hydrochlorothiazide helps the body remove extra salt and water through urine.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, usually at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet with water and do not stop it without medical advice. Continue regular blood-pressure checks as advised.

Common side effects
Dizziness, headache, tiredness, ankle or leg swelling, flushing, increased urination, and stomach upset may occur. Contact a doctor if side effects are severe or persistent.

Precautions
This medicine may cause dizziness, especially when starting treatment or standing up quickly. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, dehydration, diabetes, gout, or abnormal potassium or sodium levels. Do not use during pregnancy; inform the doctor immediately if pregnancy occurs. Avoid potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised. Tell the doctor about all medicines being used, especially lithium, other blood-pressure medicines, water tablets, painkillers such as ibuprofen, or medicines affecting potassium. Medical monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolytes may be needed.
