What is it used for?
This medicine is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It helps lower the risk of complications caused by uncontrolled blood pressure.

How does it work?
Telmisartan blocks the action of a substance that narrows blood vessels, helping them relax. Metoprolol slows the heart rate and reduces the heart's workload, which lowers blood pressure.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, with or without food. Swallow the extended-release tablet whole; do not crush or chew it. Do not change the dose or stop treatment suddenly without medical advice.

Common side effects
Dizziness, tiredness, headache, slow heartbeat, low blood pressure, nausea or diarrhoea may occur. Seek medical help for fainting, severe breathing difficulty, swelling of the face or throat, or a very slow heartbeat.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about asthma or other breathing problems, a slow heartbeat, heart conduction problems, diabetes, or kidney or liver disease. Telmisartan should not be used during pregnancy and requires medical advice when breastfeeding. Monitor blood pressure and pulse. Avoid potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised by a doctor. Do not stop metoprolol suddenly.
