What is it used for?
This medicine is used to lower high blood pressure (hypertension). Controlling blood pressure helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular complications.

How does it work?
Telmisartan relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking the action of a blood-pressure-raising hormone. Metoprolol lowers the heart rate and reduces the heart’s workload, helping to lower blood pressure.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, usually at the same time each day. Swallow the extended-release tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it. Do not stop taking it suddenly without medical advice.

Common side effects
Dizziness, tiredness, headache, low blood pressure, slow heartbeat, and cold hands or feet may occur. Contact a healthcare professional if these effects are severe or persistent.

Precautions
Do not use during pregnancy unless specifically advised; telmisartan can harm the unborn baby. Tell the doctor about asthma or breathing problems, a slow heartbeat, heart conduction problems, kidney or liver disease, diabetes, or high potassium levels. Rise slowly if dizzy, and avoid potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised. Regular blood-pressure, kidney-function and potassium checks may be needed.
