What is it used for?
Used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Controlling blood pressure helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and other complications.

How does it work?
Telmisartan relaxes blood vessels by blocking the action of a hormone that causes them to tighten. Amlodipine relaxes the blood vessels by reducing calcium entry into their muscle cells; together, they help lower blood pressure.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor, preferably at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet with water and do not stop treatment without medical advice. Do not take an extra dose if one is missed without checking with a doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Dizziness, headache, tiredness, flushing, palpitations, stomach upset and swelling of the ankles or feet may occur.

Precautions
May cause dizziness, especially when starting treatment; rise slowly from sitting or lying down. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver disease, dehydration, high potassium levels, or use of potassium supplements or salt substitutes. Avoid use during pregnancy; inform the doctor immediately if pregnancy occurs. Seek urgent medical help for severe swelling of the face, lips or throat, or difficulty breathing.
