What is it used for?
Used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), especially when one medicine alone does not control blood pressure adequately.

How does it work?
Telmisartan relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a substance that raises blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water from the body.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day, with or without food. Do not stop treatment or change the dose without medical advice. Continue regular blood pressure checks.

Common side effects
Dizziness, headache, tiredness, increased urination, nausea, diarrhoea, and changes in blood salt levels may occur.

Precautions
Not recommended during pregnancy; inform a doctor immediately if pregnancy occurs. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver disease, dehydration, low blood pressure, diabetes, gout, or existing electrolyte problems. Medical monitoring of kidney function, blood pressure, and blood salts may be needed. Avoid potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised. Tell the doctor about all medicines being taken, especially lithium, painkillers such as ibuprofen, other blood-pressure medicines, and water tablets. Rise slowly if dizziness occurs.
