What is it used for?
Telmisartan 80 mg is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It may also be prescribed for reducing the risk of certain heart and blood vessel problems in some people, as decided by a doctor.

How does it work?
It blocks the action of angiotensin II, a substance that narrows blood vessels. This helps the blood vessels relax, lowering blood pressure and reducing the workload on the heart.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, with or without food, and swallow it with water. Take it at the same time each day and do not stop it without medical advice. The prescribed dose may need adjustment based on blood pressure and other health conditions.

Common side effects
Dizziness, headache, diarrhoea, back pain, and tiredness may occur. Contact a doctor if side effects are severe or persistent.

Precautions
Do not use during pregnancy; tell the doctor immediately if pregnancy occurs. Inform the doctor about kidney or liver disease, dehydration, low blood pressure, or high potassium levels. Avoid potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised. Rise slowly if dizziness occurs. Regular blood pressure and blood tests may be needed.
