What is it used for?
Telmisartan 40 mg + amlodipine 5 mg is used to lower high blood pressure (hypertension). Controlling blood pressure helps reduce the risk of complications such as stroke and heart problems.

How does it work?
Telmisartan blocks the action of a hormone that tightens blood vessels. Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels, helping blood flow more easily and lowering blood pressure.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day. It may be taken with or without food. Do not stop treatment or change the dose without medical advice.

Common side effects
Dizziness, headache, flushing, palpitations, tiredness, low blood pressure and swelling of the ankles or feet may occur.

Precautions
Inform the doctor if there is kidney or liver disease, dehydration, low blood pressure, or high potassium levels. Avoid potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised. Tell the doctor about all medicines being used, especially other blood-pressure medicines, painkillers such as ibuprofen, or lithium. Do not use during pregnancy; seek medical advice promptly if pregnancy occurs. Rise slowly if dizziness occurs.
