What is it used for?
Teneligliptin is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It may be used alone or with other diabetes medicines as prescribed.

How does it work?
It is a DPP-4 inhibitor that helps the body release more insulin when blood sugar is high and reduces the release of hormones that raise blood sugar.

How to take/use it
Take it by mouth exactly as prescribed, with or without food. Take it at the same time each day if possible. Do not stop it or take an extra dose without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, stomach discomfort and symptoms of low blood sugar, especially when taken with insulin or certain other diabetes medicines.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, a history of pancreatitis, or any allergy to this medicine. Monitor blood sugar as advised. Seek medical help for severe or persistent abdominal pain, signs of low blood sugar, facial swelling or breathing difficulty. This medicine is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
