What is it used for?
Terbinafine tablets are used to treat fungal infections of the skin, scalp and nails, including ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch and fungal nail infections.

How does it work?
It stops fungi from making an essential substance needed for their growth, helping to clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, with or without food. Swallow the tablet with water and complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Do not stop or change the treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, diarrhoea, indigestion, stomach discomfort, rash and changes in taste may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about liver disease, kidney disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and all other medicines being taken. Oral terbinafine can rarely cause serious liver problems; seek medical help for yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, severe tiredness, persistent nausea or loss of appetite. Stop the medicine and seek urgent help for severe rash, swelling or breathing difficulty.
