Description:
Terbigen 250 contains Terbinafine Hydrochloride, an allylamine class antifungal agent. It acts by inhibiting squalene epoxidase, an essential enzyme in fungal sterol synthesis, leading to ergosterol deficiency and fungal cell death. It is primarily effective against dermatophytes and certain yeasts.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: 250 mg once daily, orally.
Duration of therapy:
Skin infections: Usually 2–6 weeks
Nail infections: 6–12 weeks or longer, depending on growth rate of the nail
Should be taken with or without food.
Duration and dose may vary as per physician’s advice and infection site.
Warnings & Precautions:
Liver function tests should be performed before and periodically during therapy.
Caution in renal impairment and hepatotoxicity history.
Discontinue if patient develops persistent nausea, fatigue, dark urine, or jaundice.
May cause taste or smell disturbances (reversible upon discontinuation).
Adverse Effects:
Common: Gastrointestinal upset, headache, rash, itching
Occasional: Taste disturbances, elevated liver enzymes
Rare: Hepatotoxicity, Stevens–Johnson syndrome, neutropenia
Drug Interactions:
CYP2D6 substrates: May increase plasma levels of tricyclic antidepressants, beta-blockers, SSRIs, MAO inhibitors, and antiarrhythmics.
Rifampicin: Increases terbinafine clearance (reduces efficacy).
Cimetidine: Decreases terbinafine clearance (increases plasma levels).

Store below 25°C, protected from moisture and direct light.
Keep out of reach of children.
