Description:

THIOTONE 500 mg Vial contains Thiopental Sodium, a short-acting barbiturate used for induction of general anesthesia, sedation, and sometimes for seizure management in emergency settings. It acts on the central nervous system by enhancing the inhibitory action of GABA, leading to rapid onset of anesthesia and sedation.

Precautions:

THIOTONE should be administered only under strict medical supervision by trained personnel. Caution is advised in patients with respiratory or cardiovascular impairment, liver or kidney dysfunction, or a history of porphyria. Continuous monitoring of respiratory and cardiovascular status is required during administration. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if clearly indicated and prescribed. Inform the physician of all other medications to avoid interactions, especially with other CNS depressants.

Adverse Effects:

Common side effects include respiratory depression, hypotension, dizziness, headache, and injection-site reactions. Rare but serious effects may include allergic reactions, prolonged sedation, apnea, or cardiovascular collapse, especially in sensitive individuals or in cases of overdose.

Storage:

Store below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep the vial in the original packaging until use. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
