What is it used for?
Ticagrelor is an antiplatelet medicine used with prescribed treatment to reduce the risk of blood clots, heart attack and stroke in people with acute coronary syndrome or a previous heart attack.

How does it work?
It prevents blood platelets from sticking together and forming harmful clots in the blood vessels.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, usually with the accompanying medicines advised by the doctor. Swallow the tablet with water and do not stop treatment suddenly without medical advice.

Common side effects
Bleeding or bruising more easily, nosebleeds, shortness of breath, headache, dizziness and nausea.

Precautions
Inform the doctor about any bleeding disorder, previous bleeding in the brain, liver problems, planned surgery or dental treatment. Seek urgent medical help for heavy or unusual bleeding, black stools, vomiting blood or severe breathing difficulty. Do not take other medicines that increase bleeding risk unless approved by the doctor.
