What is it used for?
Used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
Teneligliptin increases the action of natural hormones that help the body release insulin after meals and reduce excess glucose production. Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and improves the body's response to insulin.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, preferably with or after food, to reduce stomach upset. Swallow the tablet whole and do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, indigestion, loss of appetite, headache and a metallic taste may occur. Low blood sugar is more likely when used with insulin or other diabetes medicines.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, heart failure, heavy alcohol use, dehydration, severe infection or any planned surgery or contrast-dye scan. Kidney function should be checked regularly. Seek medical advice for severe or persistent stomach pain, unusual weakness, breathing difficulty or repeated vomiting. Inform the doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding.
