Composition

Each uncoated tablet contains:
Torsemide 10 mg
Excipients: q.s.

 Therapeutic Category

Loop Diuretic / Antihypertensive.

Dosage & Administration

Route: Oral administration.

Indication Usual Adult Dose
Oedema (CHF, renal, hepatic) 10–20 mg once daily; may increase gradually up to 200 mg/day depending on response.
Hypertension 5–10 mg once daily; may increase to 20 mg/day if needed.

Take preferably in the morning to minimize nighttime urination.

Adjust dose based on clinical response and renal function.P

 Warnings & Precautions

Electrolyte disturbances: monitor sodium, potassium, and magnesium regularly.

Volume depletion & hypotension: may occur in over-diuresis.

Renal impairment: monitor serum creatinine and BUN.

Hyperuricaemia / gout: may occur due to increased uric acid retention.

Hyperglycaemia: may worsen glucose tolerance in diabetics.

Hepatic impairment: use cautiously; avoid in hepatic coma.

Ototoxicity: rare but possible with high doses or concomitant ototoxic drugs.

 Adverse Effects

Common: Dizziness, headache, dehydration, muscle cramps, fatigue, increased urination.

Less common: Hypokalaemia, hyponatraemia, hyperuricaemia, hyperglycaemia.

Rare: Rash, photosensitivity, hearing disturbance, renal dysfunction.

Use in Special Populations

Pregnancy: Category C — use only if clearly indicated.

Lactation: Not recommended; unknown if excreted in breast milk.

Elderly: Increased sensitivity; adjust dose as needed.

Pediatrics: Safety and efficacy not established.

Overdosage

Symptoms: Excessive diuresis, dehydration, hypotension, electrolyte imbalance.
Treatment: Supportive therapy — restore fluids and electrolytes; monitor vital signs.

 Storage 

Store below 25°C, in a cool and dry place, protected from light and moisture.
Keep out of reach of children.
