What is it used for?
This combination is used to remove excess fluid from the body, helping reduce swelling (oedema) that may occur with heart, liver or kidney conditions. It may also be prescribed for high blood pressure when considered appropriate by a doctor.

How does it work?
Torsemide helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water through urine. Amiloride also increases fluid removal while helping reduce potassium loss caused by some diuretics.

How to take/use it
Take it by mouth exactly as prescribed, with water. Take it at the same time each day and do not change the dose or stop it without medical advice. Because it increases urination, follow the prescribed timing and avoid taking extra doses.

Common side effects
Increased urination, dizziness, headache, nausea, weakness, dehydration and low blood pressure. Changes in blood potassium or other body salts may also occur.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision, especially with kidney or liver disease, low blood pressure, dehydration, diabetes or gout. Blood pressure, kidney function and blood electrolyte levels may need monitoring. Do not use potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised by a doctor. Seek medical advice for severe weakness, fainting, irregular heartbeat, very little urine or signs of dehydration.
