What is it used for?
Torsemide is a diuretic used to remove excess fluid from the body. It is commonly used for swelling (oedema) related to heart failure and may also be prescribed for fluid retention associated with kidney or liver problems. It can also help lower high blood pressure.

How does it work?
It helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water through urine, reducing fluid buildup and helping lower blood pressure.

How to take/use it
Take it by mouth exactly as prescribed. It may increase urination, so follow the timing advised by the doctor. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Increased urination, dizziness, headache, low blood pressure, dehydration, nausea, and changes in blood salt levels such as low potassium or sodium.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision, especially with kidney or liver disease, low blood pressure, dehydration, gout, or diabetes. Blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels may need monitoring. Seek medical advice for severe dizziness, fainting, unusual weakness, muscle cramps, or very little urine. Tell the doctor about all medicines being taken, particularly other diuretics, blood-pressure medicines, lithium, or regular painkillers such as ibuprofen.
