What is it used for?
Torsemide 20 mg is a diuretic (“water tablet”) used to remove excess fluid from the body. It is commonly used for swelling caused by heart, kidney or liver problems, and may also be prescribed to help control high blood pressure.

How does it work?
It helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water through urine. This reduces fluid buildup and can lower blood pressure.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, with or without food. It is generally taken earlier in the day because it increases urination. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Increased urination, dizziness, headache, low blood pressure, dehydration, weakness, and changes in body salts such as low potassium or sodium.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision, especially with kidney or liver disease, low blood pressure, dehydration, diabetes, gout, or an electrolyte imbalance. Drink fluids as advised by the prescriber. Rise slowly if dizzy. Medical monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function and electrolytes may be needed. Seek medical help for severe weakness, fainting, confusion, very little urine, or an irregular heartbeat.
