Description

Torsirin (Irinotecan) is a topoisomerase I inhibitor used primarily in the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer. It works by blocking DNA replication in cancer cells, leading to their death. It may be used alone or in combination with other chemotherapy agents.

Precautions

Use only under the supervision of an oncologist.
Severe diarrhea (early or late onset) is a known risk — immediate medical attention may be required.
Regular monitoring of blood counts and liver function is essential.
Avoid in patients with severe liver impairment.
Inform the doctor if fever, abdominal pain, or dehydration occurs.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women should not use this drug.
Adequate hydration must be maintained during treatment.

Adverse Effects

Severe or prolonged diarrhea.
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps.
Low blood counts (neutropenia, anemia).
Fatigue and weakness.
Hair thinning.
Mouth sores.
Rare: severe allergic reactions, lung toxicity.

Storage

Store at 2–8°C (refrigerated). Do not freeze.
Protect from light.
Keep vial in original carton.
