What is it used for?
Tranexamic acid is used to reduce or control excessive bleeding. It may be prescribed for heavy menstrual bleeding or bleeding related to certain medical procedures, injuries or bleeding conditions.

How does it work?
It helps prevent blood clots from breaking down too quickly, which helps control bleeding.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor, with or without food, and swallow it with water. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort and headache may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is a history of blood clots, kidney disease, vision problems or irregular bleeding. Seek urgent medical help for chest pain, sudden breathlessness, coughing blood, leg swelling or pain, sudden weakness, or vision changes.
