Composition:

Vancomycin 1000 mg per vial

Description:

VANCOTECH-1000 Vial contains Vancomycin, a glycopeptide antibiotic used for the treatment of serious Gram-positive bacterial infections, including MRSA, enterococci, and streptococci. It is indicated for septicemia, endocarditis, bone and joint infections, severe skin infections, and lower respiratory tract infections. Vancomycin works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, resulting in bacterial cell death.

Precautions:

VANCOTECH-1000 should be administered under strict medical supervision. Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment or pre-existing hearing loss. Dosage adjustment is required in kidney dysfunction, and renal function should be monitored. Infusion should be slow to prevent “Red Man Syndrome.” Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if clearly prescribed. Inform the physician about all medications, especially nephrotoxic or ototoxic drugs.

Adverse Effects:

Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, rash, injection site reactions, fever, and chills. Rare but serious effects include nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity, hypotension, Red Man Syndrome, and hematological abnormalities. Severe allergic reactions may occur in sensitive individuals.

Storage:

Store below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. Reconstitute as per instructions and use within the recommended timeframe. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
