What is it used for?
Used to help control blood glucose in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when prescribed by a doctor, alongside diet and exercise.
How does it work?
Vildagliptin inhibits the DPP-4 enzyme, helping regulate incretin hormones and glucose-dependent insulin release. Dapagliflozin blocks the SGLT2 protein in the kidneys, increasing urinary glucose excretion.
How to take/use it
Take orally as prescribed. Follow the product-specific instructions for the sustained-release formulation. Swallow the tablet as directed and do not crush or chew it unless the leaflet permits it.
Common side effects
Increased urination, dizziness, genital fungal infections, urinary tract infections, and dehydration may occur.
Precautions
Monitor blood glucose and kidney function as advised. Maintain adequate hydration according to your doctor's instructions. Seek urgent medical attention for nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or difficulty breathing, which may indicate diabetic ketoacidosis even if blood glucose is not very high. Inform your doctor about liver disease, kidney problems, or planned surgery.
