What is it used for?
Voriconazole is a prescription antifungal medicine used to treat serious fungal infections, including invasive aspergillosis and certain serious Candida and other fungal infections.

How does it work?
It blocks the production of ergosterol, an important part of the fungal cell membrane. This stops the fungi from growing and helps clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and complete the prescribed course. Voriconazole tablets are usually taken at least 1 hour before or 1 hour after food. Swallow the tablet whole and do not stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Changes in vision or increased sensitivity to light, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain, rash, and changes in liver function tests.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about liver disease, kidney disease, heart rhythm problems, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Voriconazole has many important medicine interactions, so provide a complete list of all medicines and supplements being taken. Avoid direct sunlight and use sun protection, as it can increase sensitivity to sunlight. Seek medical help for severe rash, breathing difficulty, yellowing of the skin or eyes, severe visual changes, or an irregular heartbeat.
