What is it used for?
Diclofenac sodium is used to relieve pain and reduce swelling and inflammation in conditions such as arthritis, muscle pain, joint pain, and other painful musculoskeletal conditions.

How does it work?
It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAID). It reduces the production of substances in the body that cause pain, swelling, and inflammation.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed. Swallow the tablet whole with water, preferably with or after food, to reduce stomach irritation. Do not take more than prescribed or combine it with other NSAID painkillers unless advised by a doctor.

Common side effects
Indigestion, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness, and heartburn.

Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is a history of stomach ulcer or bleeding, kidney or liver disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma triggered by painkillers, or allergy to NSAIDs. Seek medical help for black stools, vomiting blood, severe stomach pain, breathing difficulty, chest pain, or swelling. Avoid use during the last three months of pregnancy; ask a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Diclofenac may interact with blood thinners and some blood pressure medicines.
