What is it used for?
This medicine is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria and parasites, including some infectious diarrhoea and dysentery caused by mixed bacterial or protozoal infections. It should be used only when prescribed by a doctor.

How does it work?
Ofloxacin stops susceptible bacteria from multiplying. Ornidazole damages the DNA of certain parasites and bacteria, helping clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and complete the full course, even if symptoms improve. Swallow with water. Do not take antacids or mineral supplements containing aluminium, magnesium, iron or calcium at the same time; ask a doctor or pharmacist about the appropriate time gap.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness and a metallic or unpleasant taste may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about allergies to quinolone antibiotics or nitroimidazole medicines, kidney or liver problems, seizures, nerve problems or previous tendon disorders. Avoid alcohol during treatment and for at least 3 days after the last dose. Seek medical help for tendon pain or swelling, numbness or tingling, severe diarrhoea, seizures, or signs of an allergic reaction. Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
