What is it used for?
Povidone iodine 10% is a topical antiseptic used to clean and help prevent infection in minor cuts, wounds, grazes and minor burns. It may also be used to disinfect the skin before certain procedures, as directed by a healthcare professional.

How does it work?
It releases iodine, which kills or inactivates many bacteria, viruses and fungi on the skin.

How to take/use it
For external use only. Apply to the affected skin as directed on the product label or by a healthcare professional. Keep away from the eyes and do not swallow. Do not use on deep or extensive wounds or burns unless medically advised.

Common side effects
Mild skin irritation, redness, dryness or staining may occur. Stop use and seek medical help if severe irritation, swelling or breathing difficulty develops.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to povidone iodine or iodine. Avoid prolonged or repeated use over large areas, especially in infants, people with thyroid problems, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding, unless advised by a healthcare professional. Avoid contact with the eyes and other sensitive areas. Seek medical advice if the wound is deep, extensive, severely burned or not healing.
